My Musical Knowledge |
---|
Instruments I Play:
Electric Guitar | Years Playing: 48 | Proficiency: Advanced |
My Approach to Learning and Playing: Learn songs you really like and you will learn faster. Try other styles, but major on what you like. Learning to teach yourself is better in the long run than taking lessons, even though I give lessons I still recommend this. Ear training is very important. Knowing your chording in different keys and scale patterns along with this are also very important. Memorizing a number of solos for lead guitar is important, but should not take the place of learning to improvise. These are just a few basic thoughts in my approach. |
My Musical Education: Self educated, some lessons when I was young, as well as a number of college courses in music and music theory, and then video lessons. |
My Musical Influences: Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Paige, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, etc. etc. A number of guitarists from the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles |
My Learning Resources: Mususian“s Institute DVDs. |
