My Approach to Learning and Playing:
Typically I sit down with a recording and figure out what is being played. I enjoy learning difficult pieces to improve my technique though this interferes with developing my own style. Therefore, I have begun taking lessons from a professional player and producer who is challenging me to approach the guitar and my playing from a totally different approach. This is at my request in order to learn how to take part in leads during jam sessions.

About My Music:
I play mostly fingerstyle. I enjoy playing at open mics and since I´m not much of a singer, I learned to play songs the audience will recognize and enjoy by playing fingerstyle arrangements.
For jams however, I would like to know how to improvise and play lead when the opportunity comes to me rather than passing on the the next player.
I also play banjo and am learning Dobro.
Love playing bluegrass but don´t much enjoy listening to it due to lots of twangy vocals. A real turnoff.
James Goodall RC "grey goose" sitka and rosewood- by far my best guitar
Taylor Koa cutaway
Gold Tone Beard Signature Series Dobro
Baby Taylor (for playing during trips to India - part of my occupation)
Crafters of Tennessee - Purchased from Chandler Holt of "Chattam County Line"
Deering Open back (won i a drawing at the 2013 IMBA in Raleigh)
